.NAME Domain Names

Launched in 2001, the .NAME generic top-level domain extension is the only one meant for personal websites only. These domains can consist of personal or fictitious names, nicknames and/or other titles people are famous by. At first, solely 3rd-level registrations were allowed, so if you wanted to acquire john.doe.name, you were required to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was liberalized and second-level registrations were also permitted. Already bought third-level names remained functional.

You will have the chance to update the WHOIS details, to park your domain, to create Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an already registered domain to our firm if you acquire its EPP transfer authorization code from the current registrar firm and we will renew it after the transfer has been finalized. There are no particular rules on who can book a dot NAME domain, but in order to maintain the concept behind its creation alive, the Registry organization may check who the owner is and if there is no link between the owner and the actual domain, the registration could be challenged.
