An access log is a complete list of all the files which were accessed by the visitors of a certain site. Any file which was requested in some way will be listed, so if you have a single page with 3 embedded graphics, one video and one embedded text file, as an example, the access log shall contain a total of 6 entries - one for any of the 6 files that were accessed when the visitor opened the page. A log usually offers the file name and path, the date, plus the visitor’s Operating System, browser and IP address. Oftentimes you can also find the referrer Internet sites that sent the visitors to your site. The data which an access log file provides is in human-readable plain text format. It can be processed by special software on a laptop or computer and used to prepare reports on the performance of a website, besides the web stats your hosting server may have generated.

Access Log Manager in Web Hosting

Our custom Hepsia CP has a section focused on various logs and the access logs are among them. When you sign in to your web hosting account and take a look at this section, you will find a list of all the domain names and subdomains you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to press a button that'll be available next to every domain/subdomain. When the option is active, you'll see a download link as well as the file size so far, so you'll be able to save the file to your computer and look at it or process it with some app. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect instantly, so if you don't require one, you can stop it with just a mouse click from the exact same section of the Control Panel. You will still be able to access the already developed content by simply clicking on the Download link.
