Learn about FTP accounts and about FTP in general - what they are and when you will need them.
FTP, which is short for File Transfer Protocol, represents the most famous method of transferring files to a hosting account. Using an FTP app that is installed on your desktop PC or laptop, you can establish a connection to your hosting server and copy all the web files that you need with a few clicks. You can do this using an easy-to-navigate graphical interface and it is as easy as dragging & dropping the aforementioned files. The advantage of using File Transfer Protocol is that you’re able to set up several FTP accounts, each with a different level of access to your server space, so if you have to provide somebody with access, for instance – a web designer, they will be able to access only a specific folder and won’t be able to see the remaining content or any other information, including private details. Three things are needed in order to be able to establish an FTP connection – a hostname, which is normally a domain name or an IP address, a username and a password.
FTP Accounts in Web Hosting
Any of the web hosting packages that we are offering will allow you to set up an unlimited number of FTP accounts, so you’ll be able to manage the content of your websites separately or to provide other people with access to any website in your hosting account. If you’ve got a web design app installed on your personal computer, you will be able to administer multiple sites all at once and to keep them updated with ease. In case you give the login details to some other individual to perform a certain task, you will be able to modify the password for that FTP account or to remove it altogether with only a few clicks of the mouse and prevent any risk of unauthorized access to your web content from then on. For the sake of convenience, all FTP accounts that you set up will be listed alphabetically in the respective section of your Hepsia Control Panel.
